Robijn

Robijn is listed in the RHS Plants for Pollinators
  • Self-fertility: Self-fertile

Almonds prefer a Mediterranean climate but Robijn has been developed for northern European growing conditions. Even so, for best results, train the tree as a fan across a warm south-facing wall in full sun.

Robijn also has very attractive dark pink blossom in the spring.

Growing and Training

Robijn is reasonably resistant to leaf-curl, but if you train the tree as a fan you can help to protect it from this infection by covering it with horticultural fleece in the winter.

Cropping usually starts when the tree is about 3-4 years old.

As with peach trees (to which almonds are closely related) it is best to keep pruning to an absolute minimum.
