Trained trees planner

Our planning tool will help you work out how many trained trees you can fit along your wall or fence, and the position and spacing for each tree.

  • 1. How long is your fence, wall, or trellis?

    Length in metres
  • 2. Which style of trained trees do you want to plant?

    Espaliers
    Suitable for apples or pears.
    Espaliers - small
Suitable for apples, using dwarf rootstocks.
    Fans
Suitable for apples, pears, plums, cherries and other species.
    Palmettes
Suitable for apples, pears, plums, cherries and other species.
    Cordons
Suitable for apples and pears, planted either vertically, or (better) at 45 degrees.
    U-cordons
    Suitable for apples.
    Step-over apples
    Step-over pears
  • 3. How do you want the trees to be arranged?

    Centred
The trees will be positioned from the center outwards. Any remaining un-used space will be allocated at either end.
    Evenly spaced
The trees will be equally spaced across the full length available. Any excess space will be allocated to each tree.
